Your photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the item and judge whether it looks genuine.
The request also carries your device's language and region (a country code) so the result comes back in your language and currency and is priced against the right regional marketplace. It carries no name or account — Worthzy has none. Like any website, our server briefly sees the network (IP) address the request came from.
We then search eBay's public API for comparable sales using text terms from that identification. Scanning never sends your photo to eBay — that only happens if you choose to publish a listing, which is described below.
The result comes back to your phone. Your photo is handled in memory to answer that one request and is not saved on our servers. We keep no database of your scans.
Your collection — the photos and their appraisals — is stored only on your device. We cannot see it.
Your language and currency choices are also stored on your device. Deleting an item from your collection deletes its photo from your device immediately.
No account, name, email address or postal address.
No precise or GPS location (see below).
We don't sell or share your data with advertisers, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. Worthzy contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
Worthzy does not access your GPS or precise location. It reads only your device's Region setting — a country code such as US, GB or KR — to choose the right eBay marketplace and a sensible default currency. You can change your currency and language at any time in Settings.
Worthzy's 3 free scans are one-time, so we store a single number — how many you've used — in your device's Keychain rather than in the app itself. That means it survives deleting and reinstalling the app, and syncs to your other devices through iCloud Keychain if you have it switched on.
It's just a count. It carries no photo, no item and nothing identifying you, and it never leaves your device or your iCloud account.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card or payment details — only whether your subscription is currently active.
Linking an eBay account is entirely optional, and nothing here applies unless you choose to do it.
You sign in on eBay's own website. We never see your eBay password. eBay then gives us a token — a key that lets Worthzy act as you for the specific things you approved: creating listings, setting up and reading the shipping, returns and payment settings eBay requires, and reading your orders. It cannot move money, change your payout details, or see your finances.
That token is the only user data Worthzy keeps on a server. It is encrypted, stored against your device's random identifier, and is not linked to a name, an email address or an account, because Worthzy still has none of those.
When you publish an item, its photo is uploaded to eBay Picture Services so eBay can show it in the listing. It goes from your phone to eBay through our server, which does not keep a copy — and the picture is about to be public on eBay in any case.
If your eBay account has no shipping location, we ask for a postcode and a country so eBay can quote postage. Nothing more than that — no street address. It is sent to eBay and not stored by us; we keep only the reference eBay files it under.
Once connected, we read your eBay orders to see what your listed items actually sold for. That price improves the estimates the app gives everyone. We do not read orders for anything you did not list through Worthzy.
Disconnecting in Settings deletes our copy of the token immediately. It does not withdraw the permission on eBay's side — to do that, remove Worthzy under your eBay account's application permissions.
Anthropic (Claude API) — receives your photo, and the language to reply in, to identify the item. Under Anthropic's API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train Anthropic's models.
eBay (public API) — receives text search terms only, to look up comparable sold and live prices.
eBay (your account) — only if you connect one. Worthzy then sends eBay the listings you choose to publish, including their photos, and reads back your orders for those listings. See "If you connect eBay" above.
Frankfurter (exchange rates) — receives only a currency code, e.g. "USD to EUR", to convert values for display; it receives nothing about you or your item.
Apple — handles all subscription payments and receipts.
Each of these has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data.
Camera access is used only to take a photo of an item you choose to scan. Photo-library access is used only for pictures you pick yourself. We never browse your library.
Data in transit is protected with encryption (HTTPS). Because Worthzy keeps no accounts and stores your collection on your own device, there is no central database of user photos or scans that could be breached.
If you connect eBay, the token that connection produces is encrypted where it is stored, so the database holding it is not enough on its own to read it. No system is ever completely secure, but we keep what we handle to a minimum.
Worthzy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@worthzy.app and we will delete it.
You can stop all collection by deleting the app. Deleting an item removes its photo from your device.
We hold no account and keep no photos or scans on our servers, so unless you have connected eBay there is little server-side data to access or delete. If you have, Settings › eBay › Disconnect deletes it — that is the delete path, and it takes effect at once.
